- Last Saturday a harpsichordist transformed San Diego’s SummerFest into “Club Baroque.” This year, Ja Holla Music Society’s SummerFest has been quite an event, with premieres by John Williams and Ellen Taafe Zwilich. Yesterday, the Tokyo String Quartet graced the stage with a program featuring Shostakovich, Haydn, Beethoven, and the West Coast premiere of a piano quartet written last year by Julliard’s Cynthia Lee Wong.
- Two orchestras are merging together in a move that shows some notable creativity and foresight in adapting to changing times. The Westfield Symphony Orchestra will combine with the New Philharmonic of New Jersey and perform a series of concerts in Morris Concert, NJ in honor of 9/11.
