• The Classical Music Across Cultures project launches tonight at midnight (CST)! CMAC aims to reach out to underserved populations in the African American and Latino communities, helping them transform the stereotypes of classical music. • The Illinois New Music Festival opens this week in Peoria and will highlight some obscure works and composers (the event is sponsored by the Peoria Symphony Orchestra).
• Internationally-known cellist Julian Lloyd Webber (younger brother to composer Andrew Lloyd Webber) fights for classical music to have a spot in prime-time TV and children entertainment.
• “Serious art music” on the electric guitar has been released on classical record giant Naxos.

And finally, a 14-year-old pianist wants to truly make Bach a part of the 21st century… by making an “iBach” app.
