- René A. Morel, master surgeon and restorer of rare violins passes away just shy of age 80. His clients included Itzhak Perlman, Yo-Yo Ma, and many others.
- Remarkable story: a woman performed yesterday at a music center that she helped to create in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
- Musical legends Oliver Knussen and Leila Josefowicz converged with the Seattle Symphony last week for a a refreshing (though sadly less-than-optimally attended) concert. Josefowicz performed a violin concerto written and conducted by Knussen.
- The Fort Worth Symphony had the good fortune to acquire a second Stradivari Violin last week!
Finally, last week we presented a video on a concert celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Legend of Zelda. Will the game’s very popular soundtrack is still in the news this week, courtesy of violinist Lindsay Sterling, known for her online hip-hop violin routines on YouTube and her streak on America’s Got Talent in 2010.
